# Tector gateway connectivity options

**Does the Tector Gateway Need Internet Connectivity?**

In most cases, the Tector gateway operates seamlessly with its built-in SIM card, eliminating the need for a direct Ethernet connection. However, the necessity for internet connectivity hinges upon the location of your construction site.

**Connectivity Solutions Based on Location**

1. **SIM Card**: The gateway comes equipped with a SIM card, allowing it to establish a connection via mobile networks. This is the primary mode of connectivity and suffices for most scenarios.
2. **Ethernet Cable**: In areas plagued by poor mobile signal strength, employing an Ethernet cable as a backup connection is advisable. This ensures uninterrupted access to crucial data even in challenging network environments.
3. **Wi-Fi**: While the Tector gateway supports Wi-Fi connectivity, its usage remains minimal in practical scenarios. Most clients find the SIM card or Ethernet cable to be sufficient for their operational needs.
